Companionship Care at Home in Gateshead and Chester-le-Street
A familiar face at the door, a proper conversation and a hand with the things that have become a struggle. Companionship care is about living well, not just being looked after.

What Is Companionship Care?
Companionship care means regular visits from a trusted carer whose main job is company, connection and practical help around the home and the community. It suits people who are managing well physically but feel isolated, less confident going out or in need of a little help to keep life running smoothly.
Where no personal care is involved, companionship can be delivered as unregulated support at a lower cost. If needs change, the same carer team can add regulated personal care under our CQC registration, so nobody has to start again with strangers.
Who We Support
Older people living alone who feel lonely or low
People whose family live far away or work long hours
Anyone who has lost confidence going out after a fall, illness or bereavement
People living with early stage dementia who benefit from routine and gentle stimulation
Adults with a disability who want support to enjoy hobbies and the community
Family carers who need a regular break knowing their loved one has good company
How Our Carers Can Help
Conversation and company: A cup of tea, a chat, a game of cards or simply someone to share the day with.
Getting out and about: Walks, shopping trips, church, clubs, the hairdresser or a favourite cafe.
Hobbies and interests: Gardening, baking, puzzles, music, crafts and keeping old interests alive.
Appointments: Escorting to GP, hospital and dental appointments and helping remember what was said.
Light household help: Tidying, laundry, meal preparation and keeping the fridge stocked.
Staying connected: Help with phone and video calls, letters, cards and keeping in touch with family.
Wellbeing checks: Noticing small changes early and letting family know.

Matched for Personality, Not Just Availability
Companionship only works when people get on. At assessment we ask about interests, background, sense of humour and the kind of company you enjoy, then match you with one or two carers we think you will click with. If it does not feel right, tell us and we will change it, no awkwardness.
Visits are planned at the same times each week so there is always something to look forward to, and the same carers come each time.
Company You Can Trust
Every companionship carer joins us through safer recruitment with an enhanced DBS check and references, and is trained in safeguarding, dementia awareness and wellbeing. They are supervised, spot checked and supported by 24/7 on-call management, so families have the reassurance of a regulated provider even when the visit is just for company.
